Day Ten

We anchored in Swans Island last night.  It was by far the nicest anchor spot we have been to on this trip. We left about 9:30 am heading for another anchorage.  This is such a beautiful part of Maine.  We saw so many beautiful islands, houses and areas that you would never see from the road.  I'm guessing that the beautiful big houses on the water belong to the fishermen.  That's all you see around here, and I would guess that the fishermen earn quite a good living.

How can anyone live is such a cramped space???

This is Two Bush Island Lighthouse

Merchant Island

We several dolphins and seals today.  I love how the seals are never in a hurry to get out of your way.

  1. Seals are such curious creatures - or you could just say "nosy". I like to think they are just giving you their "seal of approval". *smile* - Marilyn

  2. Hmmmm... Nope.. The BIG homes you are seeing are the "summer cottages " of rather wealthy people from the Southern States that come to Maine to escape the heat of the South in the summer. Before there was AC, Maine was the "air conditioned " State of the US. (Still is ! )

  3. Dave that sounds very reasonable, I would agree with you. Glad to know why they all have these big beautiful homes.
